More Pics

Here are some pics from the B&P Chimney vs. Drexler game on Friday, April 24.

A man walks into a bar with a dog. The bartender says, "You can't bring that dog in here."

"You don't understand," says the man. "This is not regular dog, he can talk."

"Listen, pal," says the bartender. "If that dog can talk, I'll give you a hundred bucks."

The man puts the dog on the stool, and asks him, "What's on top of a house?"

"Roof!"

"Right. And what's on the outside of a tree?"

"Bark!"

"And who's the greatest baseball player of all time?"

"Ruth!"

"I guess you've hear enough," says the man. "I'll take the hundred in twenties."

The bartender is furious. "Listen pal," he says, "get out of here before I belt you!"

As soon as they're on the street, the dog turns to the man and says, "Do you think I should have said DiMaggio?"

Earth Day 2009

Due to the rain today, games have been canceled and new schedules will be announced. Contact your division head for further information.

Also, congratulations to the O'Connor family in winning the four Mets-Nationals tickets in HBQVB's raffle that took place over the past weekend.

Due to the overload of cupcakes, HBQVB has made some donations, itself. Our Lady of Lourdes outreach (food pantry), thanks everyone for all the cupcakes they received. Many families had a special treat.

Don't forget-Photo Weekend is in two days, so make sure to be up at the field one hour prior to scheduled games.

Opening Day Pictures

Opening Day

A short, early edition of the the Floral Park Bulletin:

All games that were scheduled for yesterday, April 20, are scheduled to be played on Friday, April 24.

Opening Day, its parade, and ceremony was a huge success, with a turnout of more than 2,000 participants. This was by far, the largest gathering on Opening Day HBQVB has seen in years! Classic cars and a fire truck led the way for bag pipers and a drum corps followed by players, parents, league members, and supports alike for HBQVB’s 56th annual celebration.

If any parent is interested in getting involved with a softball game on Grand Slam Day, Saturday, June 20, at 6 p.m., please contact Margie Ruiz at 516-902-2970 or by e-mail at Triguenita549@optonline.net.

For any girls interested in being a part of HBQVB’s first ever 8U tournament team, please contact Jerry Witthauer at 718-347-5708 or witthauer.jerry@gmail.com. There will also be a notice placed on the bulletin board between the concession stand and the equipment stand.

Girls should be at least sever-years-old before January 1, 2009 and no older than nine-years-old by this year, and be registered in either the Minor Girls or the Pee-Wee divisions at HBQVB. The Babe Ruth tournament is July 11 and 12 in Staten Island, and other tournaments throughout May, but will be filled-in quickly, so parents need to sign their kids up as soon as possible.

As a reminder, this is a first ever tournament we are trying to create for the benefit of our young girls to get them motivated and experienced in ball playing at a young age. Do not miss out on this opportunity.

For work detail opportunities, the league needs more women to help out at the concession stand; a donation of flowers would be appreciated, and having trade workers is always helpful. For further information on work details, please call Frank Rizzo at 718-464-6088.
